Chickweed - Stellaria media in the Caryophyllaceae or Pink family
Parts used: Fresh succulent aerial parts.
Taste/Smell: Fresh, pleasant taste, can be used as salad greens.
Tendencies: Drying, cooling.
Dosage: Best grazed fresh from the garden or in salads; or 1:1 fresh liquid extract: 20-75 drops 1-4 times per day.
Use: (a) Nutritious, (b) Demulcent, (c) Diuretic.
Chickweed is used topically for skin eruptions, hemorrhoids, cuts, wounds, burns, etc. and internally as a spring tonic and rejuvenator.
