Yerba mansa - Anemopsis californica in the Saururaceae family
Part used: Root.
Taste/smell: Astringent, aromatic, slightly acrid.
Tendencies: Warming, drying.
Dosage: Decoction: 1 teaspoon per one cup of water; or 1:2 fresh strength liquid extract: 10-40 drops 1-4 times per day.
Mental picture and specific indications: Yerba mansa is indicated for catarrhal states.
Use: (a) Astringent, (b) Anti-inflammatory, (c) Antibacterial, (d) Antifungal, (e) Diuretic.
This herb is used similar to goldenseal for colds, flu, sore throats, conjunctivitis, acute and chronic middle ear infections, dysentery and skin ulcers. It is used with atonic, chronic mucosal problems with pale relaxed tissues.
